The NSW Transport Data Centre (Ministry of Transport), in collaboration with the Victorian Department of Infrastructure, has now commissioned IMIS to adapt the Melbourne Freight Movement Model (FMM) to Sydney. This is an endorsement of the FMM model structure and associated methodologies. The collaborative development of the new model will result in increased confidence in both the FMM models and their outputs through a sharing of data sets, parameters, models etc., where they are transferable between cities. The Sydney FMM will be developed in three stages- the initial transfer, the data collection and the final implementation- and is likely to be complete by December 2007.
